The Financial Accounting Services (FAS) team within Retail Netherlands (RBNL) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled finance professional. Finance Domestic Bank is responsible for the financial accounting and statutory/regulatory reporting of all Retail activities in ING’s home market, with a Balance Sheet of 200 billion euro and responsible for 40% of ING’s worldwide profit. The Financial Accounting tribe aims at finding the balance between high speed to continuously deliver on all regulatory changes and an efficient and up-to-standard way of working to process vast data sets according to strict IFRS and ECB rules.

The Financial Accounting Services team manages financial administration for various products and services within Retail Bank Netherlands (RBNL). You’ll be working in a dynamic and evolving environment due to organizational changes within Finance and ongoing system and process transformations, both within Finance and the contributing business domains. At the same time, high standards are set for the continuity and reliability of FAS processes, which form the foundation for monthly and quarterly closings and various financial reports prepared by RBNL Finance.

Your new role

Your responsibilities as an Accounting and Reporting Expert is among others to:

  • Processing complex financial transactions in the bank’s general ledger;
  • Handling incidental entries during the closing (provisions, impairments, receivables, etc.);
  • Liaising with contributing departments across RBNL;
  • Performing complex analyses and plausibility checks;
  • Setting up reconciliations across departments;
  • Monitoring progress and resolving issues;
  • Coaching colleagues on complex analyses or bookings;
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in Tribes to help achieve project goals from a Finance perspective, translating Finance requirements into bank-wide solutions.

A significant part of your time will be spent following up on various projects within Retail NL, ensuring that the correct Finance requirements are defined and implemented. You will play a key role in translating financial needs into actionable deliverables across the organization.

About the team

This vacancy is in the Financial Accounting Services team of about 8 people. Operational tasks such as manual journal entries, reconciliations, and balance analyses are carried out by the Financial Accounting Services (FAS) colleagues in Manila (about 11 colleagues). The  team in Amsterdam consists of subject matter experts (SMEs) who review the outcomes, support the Manila team when needed—especially in investigating discrepancies—and ensure the quality and accuracy of the financial data.

Our ideal candidate has a proven track record in some fields and possesses certain skills:

  • Current residency in the Netherlands;
  • Prior work experience in a banking environment and and IFRS is desired;
  • A completed university (WO) or applied sciences (HBO) degree;
  • Strong numerical insight and analytically and strong with an eye for detail;
  • A process-oriented mindset, eagerness to learn, and the ability to quickly build expertise;
  • Problem solving, innovative, initiative, and a drive for continuous improvement;
  • Strong collaboration skills with colleagues and internal stakeholders across and beyond Finance;
  • Strong drive to perform and a desire to take a leading role in projects impacting the Finance domain.

  • A salary indication tailored to your qualities and experience. The role is positioned within FS 9 (GJA 15). Depending on your background and expertise, placement in a higher or lower scale may be considered between FS8 - FS10 (GJA14 - GJA16);
