Automation Engineer

We are looking for you, if you:
- are experienced software developer in Python,
- have experience with designing, implementing and managing microservices and API for network infrastructure,
- have experience with setting up pipelines,
- have practical knowledge in error handling, roll back methods, testing and developing secure code.
You'll get extra points for:
- working knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices,
- familiarity with Scrum methodology (e.g., backlog, sprint planning, reviews),
- having proven experience with taking ownership and teaching others,
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
- a proactive, can-do attitude with a mindset of continuous improvement,

- having knowledge of network environments,

Your responsibilities:
- develop and enhance robust Python solutions that power ING's global infrastructure
- transform ideas and prototypes into professional, reliable software for mission-critical operations
- integrate various systems using APIs and event-driven implementations
- design software systems and their functionality
- enhance existing code quality, architecture, and implement best practices
- work closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
- maintain the security and performance of critical banking systems
- create innovative solutions for complex challenges
Information about the squad:
Our squad is an international team located in The Netherlands (Amsterdam/Rotterdam) and Poland (Katowice/Warsaw). As part of our External Networks Squad, you'll join a diverse, international team of network specialists who design and maintain critical parts of ING's core infrastructure. Working in an agile environment, we prioritize collaboration and innovation. Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews are part of your routine, supported by modern tools and a strong DevOps culture. Our team manages network infrastructure connecting ING to external businesses and users, including self-service features and automation.
Stand-by shifts
Business critical systems, such as client processes, payment processes, software applications and websites, require a 24/7 accessibility and availability of several (groups) of employees to act quickly during unforeseen circumstances, such as calamities or incidents. For these (groups) of employees ING have set up a Stand-by regulation. To compensate for the inconvenience of being available currently, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer III".
