As a Senior Business Analyst / Information Modeler within the GCDM Center of Expertise Customer Data Design, you will play a key role in shaping and governing ING’s customer data landscape. You will analyse complex business domains, translate business concepts into clear and consistent information models, and help ensure that customer data designs across ING fit within a coherent enterprise-wide model.

The team

The GCDM Center of Expertise Customer Data Design is responsible for the business architecture, customer data model, reference data model and design governance of OnePAM. We safeguard the consistency of customer data designs across ING and help countries and delivery teams solve complex customer data challenges.

In this role, your primary focus will be the party (customer) data model. You will define business concepts, relationships, attributes, definitions, business rules and reference data, while ensuring that solutions developed by delivery teams fit consistently into the overall model. You will work at the intersection of business, data and technology, collaborating with business experts, architects and engineering teams across multiple countries.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Senior Business Analyst / Information Modeler, you will:

  • Analyse complex business requirements and identify the underlying business concepts, entities, relationships, attributes and business rules.
  • Create, maintain and evolve conceptual and logical data models for customer-related information.
  • Translate business terminology and requirements into precise and reusable model definitions.
  • Define and maintain business definitions, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies and reference data.
  • Analyse proposed model changes for consistency, reuse, duplication and impact on the broader customer data model.
  • Work with feature teams to develop domain models and ensure consistency with the overall OnePAM model.
  • Challenge requirements and solution designs where they conflict with agreed modelling principles or the enterprise model.
  • Maintain the logical model and related integration concepts.
  • Coordinate and execute reference data governance and maintenance processes.
  • Contribute to business architecture and data design decisions and provide clear advice on modelling alternatives and trade-offs.
  • Facilitate modelling and design workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business experts, architects and delivery teams across multiple countries.
  • Explain complex models and design choices in clear language to both business and technical audiences.
  • Contribute actively to modelling standards, documentation, education and knowledge sharing within GCDM.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you stay curious, keep learning and take ownership. In return, we will support you in developing yourself further.

For this role, you particularly enjoy untangling complex information problems and turning them into clear structures and models. You can take an ambiguous business problem, structure it, identify the relevant information concepts and independently develop a model proposal that can be reviewed with business and architecture stakeholders. You understand that good data design starts with understanding the business and are comfortable discussing how business concepts should be represented in information and data models with architects and engineers.

  • Master's degree, preferably in an analytical, technical, information management or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in business information analysis, data modelling, information modelling or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with conceptual and/or logical data modelling in complex business domains.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into entities, relationships, attributes, definitions and business rules.
  • Experience working with enterprise-wide information or data models and associated governance processes.
  • Solid understanding of metadata management, taxonomies, reference data and data governance.
  • Ability to assess model changes for consistency, reuse, duplication and impact.
  • Strong facilitation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex analysis and modelling assignments.
  • Understanding of banking concepts and customer data, such as persons, organisations, relationships, customer roles and products, is a strong advantage.
