You’ll translate complex Finance and transformation topics into clear, creative, and engaging communication.

You’ll be part of the COMET People & Communication portfolio and work closely with stakeholders across COO Finance, collaborating with colleagues in the Netherlands and our global locations.

The team
COO Finance (COOF) is an independent unit reporting to ING’s COO, with a permanent seat in the Management Team of the CFO. COOF plays a key role in shaping the future of Finance by enabling excellence through real-time insights, smart use of data, and highly effective operations.

Within COOF, the Center of Expertise Operational Effectiveness & Control (COMET) includes the People & Communication portfolio. This internship is specifically focused on the communication pillar of this portfolio. You’ll work on branding, storytelling, and internal and external communication—helping to strengthen how COOF connects with its people and tells its story in a clear, consistent, and engaging way.

Key Responsibilities

As a Communication & Branding Intern, you’ll get plenty of room to learn, experiment, and take ownership. Your work will be visible, used in practice, and directly contribute to how COOF communicates.

Branding & Visual Identity

  • Help create and maintain a uniform and consistent COOF branding kit, including templates, guidelines, and visual assets (e.g. templates, one-pagers, posters).
  • Support the consistent use of branding across presentations, documents, and communication materials.
  • Bring the strategy, mission vision and values of COOF alive on the COOF floors in the office.
  • Turn the COOF story and identity into strong visual and written content.

Communication Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development of a COOF communication plan (key messages, audiences, and channels).
  • Create and maintain communication templates for recurring use (e.g. announcements, newsletters, updates).
  • Help improve COOF’s internal and external communication presence.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Create engaging communication and marketing materials, such as: videos and short clips, posters and visuals, and newsletters and intranet content.
  • Bring in fresh ideas to make COOF communication more creative, modern, and impactful.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with stakeholders across COOF to understand communication needs.
  • Support events/ initiatives with tailored communication materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across locations to ensure alignment and consistency.

How to succeed

  • You are a student in Communication, Branding, Marketing, Media, Design, or a related field.
  • You have a strong interest in branding, communication, and visual storytelling.
  • You have experience working with tools such as PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, or similar design/video tools.
  • You are comfortable creating content in English.
  • Interest in Finance, transformation, or a corporate environment is a plus—but curiosity and motivation matter most.

Core Competencies

  • Creative mindset: You enjoy storytelling, visuals, and coming up with new ideas.
  • Creative tools & software savvy: You are well-versed or proficient with creative tools and software and quick to learn new tools.
