The team

ING’s Payments and Settlement Services (“PSS”) aims to further mature, develop and expand ING’s state of the art payment platforms and services. PSS focuses on delivering payments, settlement, and open banking services, meeting the expectations of ING’s business lines and beyond, whilst ensuring the basics: safe, secure, compliant, and reliable.  The PSS is an independent unit within ING’s CTO domain, reporting directly into ING’s Chief Technology Officer. The PSS combines Product Management, IT and Operations to ensure we can develop, maintain, and run our payment & settlement services end-to-end.  PSS is a global organization with colleagues in the Netherlands, Belgium, India, Romania, Slovakia and the Philippines.

The PSS is responsible for providing standardized payments and settlement services to multiple ING business lines (Wholesale Banking, Retail, and others). There is a clear ambition to also look for external commercialization of our payment platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities

ING’s True International Payments department consists of approximately 75 employees of various nationalities, including Belgian, Brazilian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Dutch, Indian, Iranian, Irish, Russian, South African, and Turkish. We work together based in three different locations: The Netherlands, Spain, and India. Individual squads consist of five to nine engineers specializing in DevOps, Java, or Dovetail (Payment Platform) Development engineering. Together, we maintain a cluster of Java applications built around a vendor application, 50+ interfaces, and the configuration of the central application itself.

As Dovetail Engineer you help make sure ING’s international payments are processed flawlessly. This means you refine, specify, and configure new features in line with high-level business requirements or rulebook changes. Each squad owns its own set of services, configuration, and applications. This also means you help test what is delivered, align with our vendor at content level, and solve problems across environments – including production. The position is suitable for people that are analytical and understand payments, but also have a keen interest in IT.  ING continuously works on optimizing its services to customers and at further enhancing its leading position as a reliable and expert bank. The department is therefore dynamic, operating in a continuously changing and complex environment. There is plenty of room for innovation. If you are curious and continuously on the lookout for opportunities to deliver the best possible solutions, keeping compliance and security aspects in mind, you will fit right in.

We are looking for:

  • a team member that is result-oriented and proactive,

  • with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of payments,

  • with proven experience and interest in IT,

  • and with an analytical mind,

  • that is also a good communicator, fluent in English - both written and spoken.

You should also hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).

We offer

A one-year internal appointment, with the prospect of obtaining an indefinite contract afterwards. Projected job title would be either Engineer III or IV (salary scale 10 or 11 as per CLA), depending on your experience level.  At ING, we want to make sure that it is possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life.
