The mission of Integrated Risk is focused on providing risk identification, aggregation and insight capabilities at Group level across the various Risk domains. The team department is using those capabilities across the various risk functions, to assume a general oversight of risk governance, policies and frameworks, and to steer group-wide model and implementation activities across locations.

The team
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department is responsible for setting the standard for INGs enterprise risk management framework and the internal control system development, maintenance and oversight. In addition, the ERM department is responsible for the governance, standards and tools and oversight for regulatory changes on Risk Policies and will be acting as functional owner for the iRisk architecture development, in cooperation with COO Risk and CTO.

Role and responsibilities
You are the specialist responsible for setting a standardized, one way of working through the entire Group, focusing on cross-functional alignment across the global risk domains and the matrix organisation with a view to strengthen the overall governance. Interacts with internal stakeholders (in the first and second line of defence, globally and bank wide) and external stakeholders. You have a central oversight on the bank-wide risk topics not exclusively related to one risk type, to ensure a consistent approach between the various risk types is taken into account. As the ERM Framework owner, you are responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and change management of the framework. Promoting (ERM) based governance and policy structures that fully support ING's financial, non-financial and strategic risk activities.

In addition, you will:

  • Define and supply Group functions and LEs with the criteria for assessing, managing, measuring, monitoring and communicating risk. It also ensures that internal control biding principles at Group and LEs level are coherent.

  • Align the implementation of the ERM framework across all risk domains, to achieve a consistent approach in managing the risks and meeting ING’s ambitions.

  • Be responsible for alignment and consistency of all underlying frameworks of non-Financial (including Model Risk), Financial and Strategic risk.

  • Act as 2LoD central point of communication for group risk governance, policy structure and regulatory requirements; pro-actively involve stakeholders, challenging the status quo and driving changes.

  • Continuously review and update risk governance structures to ensure they are fit for purpose, in line with internal and external expectations.      

  • Provide oversight of changing regulations and maintain the mapping between risk policies and external regulations.

  • Oversee, provide advice on the policy lifecycle management process to risk domain owners, policy editors, locations.        

  • Initiate and embed changes in behaviour and culture via training and guidance from an Enterprise Risk Management perspective.

In addition, you have:

  • A bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field (Economics, Finance or Law).

  • More than 8 years of banking experience in risk management and compliance, developing and implementing governance around risk management organisation, processes and internal control framework.         

  • Clear understanding of ING governance model, ERM principles and mapping of EU regulations into ING internal control documents.

  • Strong interest in risk management, regulations and governance, while focusing on process development and further simplifications.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Able to work independently yet being a collaborative team player, willing to continuously learn and adapt in a fast-evolving regulatory environment.
