About the role

As a Financial Risk Specialist – IRRBB Analytics & Insights, you will strengthen the second line analytics capability within the Banking Book Risk function.

You will focus on deep analytical assessment of IRRBB risk drivers across ING’s balance sheet, supporting risk oversight, challenging first line proposals, and enabling informed decision-making at senior management level.

The role combines quantitative analysis, Python tooling development, and risk insight generation, with exposure to ALCO and senior risk committee submissions.

IRRBB analytics and insights

  • Perform in-depth analysis of ING’s IRRBB risk drivers (EVE, NII, behavioural models, hedging impacts)

  • Assess and interpret movements in balance sheet risk profile across products and entities

  • Generate actionable insights on IRRBB developments to support risk steering and decision-making

Tooling and data analytics

  • Design and develop Python-based analytical tools for IRRBB monitoring, scenario analysis, and deep dives

  • Improve and automate existing analysis workflows to enable faster and more robust insights

  • Translate business and risk questions into scalable analytical solutions

Second line challenge

  • Critically review and challenge first line proposals on:

    • Model calibration (e.g. behavioural assumptions, replication portfolios)

    • Hedging strategies and structural positioning

  • Scenario design and stress testing approaches

  • Provide independent quantitative assessment and recommendations

Balance sheet and hedging analysis

  • Analyse the impact of hedging strategies on IRRBB metrics and risk profile

  • Support evaluation of alternative strategies and calibration approaches

  • Contribute to improving consistency between modelling, risk measurement, and business decisions

Reporting and senior management support

  • Prepare high-quality analysis, materials, and narratives for:

    • ALCO

    • Risk committees

    • Senior management discussions

  • Translate complex analytics into clear, decision-relevant messages

Collaboration and stakeholder management

  • Work closely with Group Treasury, Risk, Modelling, and local entities

  • Act as a key analytics partner within the IRRBB function

  • Contribute to strengthening data-driven decision making across teams

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in finance, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IRRBB, ALM or Banking Book Risk

  • Solid experience working with IRRBB models and analytics (e.g. EVE, NII, behavioural models)

  • Strong Python programming skills, with ability to build analytical tools and handle large datasets

  • Experience in balance sheet analysis, hedging strategies, and model interpretation

  • Experience preparing materials for senior stakeholders

  • Comfortable working in an international environment with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience in using GenAI tools is a plus
