Financial Risk Specialist

ING is looking for a Financial Risk Specialist to strengthen the Treasury Risk Chapter of Financial Risk. In this role, you will be responsible for measuring, analyzing and monitoring financial risks in the Treasury portfolios of ING, as well as contribute to regulatory and internal change projects that affect the risk measurement and oversight of Treasury business function. You will be keeping close contact with the Treasury dealers and colleagues from different departments such as Financial Risk, Finance, Model Development / Validation, COO and IT. We are looking for a new colleague who is able to connect and communicate clearly with different type of stakeholders, who has a pro-active attitude, a willingness to investigate and learn new things, and continuously look for improvements within the team and work domain.
Scope and Main Role of the Department
The Financial Risk (FR) department is a head office function that sets and controls financial risk strategy across the organization. The department provides strategic guidance on financial risks across divisions (trading book, banking book and balance sheet risk), safeguards regulatory compliance as well as capital and liquidity adequacy.
The Treasury Risk Chapter falls under Financial Risk / Banking Risk Management Tribe. This Chapter is responsible for globally heading the functional country steering and oversight of Treasury risk. The team also acts as local risk manager for the Treasury activities in Amsterdam. We cover a wide range of subjects within the Treasury Risk Chapter. Below a quick summary of what our work involves:
active steering of the banking book risks in the Treasury domain, with a focus on open market risks (interest rate, credit spread and foreign exchange risks)
advice & challenge Treasury business on their hedging & investment decision as well as reviewing their impact on all the internal & regulatory risk limits
ensure Treasury risks in ING units are identified & measured/monitored within the internally set risk appetites, in compliance with the ING internal policies and regulatory requirements
coordinate & execute regulatory & internal changes in Treasury target operating systems
Your work environment
Treasury Risk Chapter is a head office based, young, energetic & international team consisting of 8 FTE’s. The team has an open, informal atmosphere and a strong focus on ‘getting the things done’ mentality. Unlike traditional banks, we work according to agile principles where we plan our work into manageable pieces by means of bi-weekly sprint plannings. You have the opportunity to keep learning, take on more responsibility and challenge yourself in this team.
Who are we looking for
Candidates should have strong analytical skills and the ability to create, challenge and improve risk methodologies and monitoring processes. Candidates with relevant experience in Trading / Treasury front office, risk management & product control (market/treasury/ALM) roles will have our preference.
Your profile
A university degree in economics, econometrics or other finance/quantitative subjects
Relevant work experience (max 4 years) preferably within the banking sector
Good knowledge of market risk with a focus on open interest rate and credit spread risks
Good functional understanding of the financial product groups IRD, FXMM and Fixed Income
Good communication skills & a real team player with a pro-active attitude
Result-driven and able to push things forward in a persistent and constructive manner while remaining flexible towards changing situations
Able to manage different stakeholders and navigate through different cultural environments
Well structured, highly adaptive in a fast paced dynamic environment
Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
