Graduate Internship – NFR AI Agent Developer
As a Graduate Intern, you will support the development of intelligent agents that enhance Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management within ING. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying advanced data science, AI, and automation techniques to real-world risk challenges in a highly regulated banking environment.

Role
As a Graduate Intern, you will support the development of intelligent agents that enhance Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management within ING. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying advanced data science, AI, and automation techniques to real-world risk challenges in a highly regulated banking environment.
You will work on designing, building, and testing agent-based solutions that support risk identification, monitoring, and reporting processes. This role provides a unique opportunity to bridge data science and risk management while contributing to innovation within the bank.
The team
You will join the Non-Financial Risk team within the CRO domain, based in Amsterdam. The team focuses on managing and improving ING’s Non-Financial Risk processes and frameworks, including areas such as IT risk and operational risk. ING’s Non-Financial Risk team focusses on Cyber Security, Operational Resilience, Fraud management, Physical Security and all other areas that are linked to people, systems, processes and/or external events.
We are increasingly leveraging advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions, including Co-Pilot agents to improve efficiency, horizon scanning, and control effectiveness. You will collaborate with risk experts in a multidisciplinary, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Agent Development & AI Solutions
Design and develop agent-based solutions to support NFR processes with Co-Pilot
Prototype and validate new approaches for automation in risk management
Data Analysis & Process Improvement
Analyze and process structured and unstructured data relevant to NFR domains
Translate and identify business problems into data-driven solutions
Research & Innovation
Stay up to date with the latest developments in AI, agents, and data science
Support knowledge or training sessions on AI within Non-Financial Risk team
Collaboration
Work closely with NFR experts, IT teams, and other stakeholders
Present outcomes, demos, and recommendations to the management team
Qualifications
Master student in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
Experience with machine learning, data analysis, or AI/LLM frameworks
Experience working with Microsoft Co-Pilot
Experience with prompt engineering and building agents
Interest in risk management, banking, or regulatory environments
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
