As a Graduate Intern, you will support the development of intelligent agents that enhance Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management within ING. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying advanced data science, AI, and automation techniques to real-world risk challenges in a highly regulated banking environment.

You will work on designing, building, and testing agent-based solutions that support risk identification, monitoring, and reporting processes. This role provides a unique opportunity to bridge data science and risk management while contributing to innovation within the bank.

 

Role

As a Graduate Intern, you will support the development of intelligent agents that enhance Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management within ING. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying advanced data science, AI, and automation techniques to real-world risk challenges in a highly regulated banking environment.

You will work on designing, building, and testing agent-based solutions that support risk identification, monitoring, and reporting processes. This role provides a unique opportunity to bridge data science and risk management while contributing to innovation within the bank.

The team

You will join the Non-Financial Risk team within the CRO domain, based in Amsterdam. The team focuses on managing and improving ING’s Non-Financial Risk processes and frameworks, including areas such as IT risk and operational risk. ING’s Non-Financial Risk team focusses on Cyber Security, Operational Resilience, Fraud management, Physical Security and all other areas that are linked to people, systems, processes and/or external events.

We are increasingly leveraging advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions, including Co-Pilot agents  to improve efficiency, horizon scanning, and control effectiveness. You will collaborate with risk experts in a multidisciplinary, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agent Development & AI Solutions

    • Design and develop agent-based solutions to support NFR processes with Co-Pilot

    • Prototype and validate new approaches for automation in risk management
       

  • Data Analysis & Process Improvement

    • Analyze and process structured and unstructured data relevant to NFR domains

    • Translate and identify business problems into data-driven solutions
       

  • Research & Innovation

    • Stay up to date with the latest developments in AI, agents, and data science

    • Support knowledge or training sessions on AI within Non-Financial Risk team
       

  • Collaboration

    • Work closely with NFR experts, IT teams, and other stakeholders

    • Present outcomes, demos, and recommendations to the management team

Qualifications

  • Master student in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Experience with machine learning, data analysis, or AI/LLM frameworks

  • Experience working with Microsoft Co-Pilot

  • Experience with prompt engineering and building agents

  • Interest in risk management, banking, or regulatory environments

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly

  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
