We’re looking for an Indirect Tax (EU VAT) specialist to strengthen our VAT team in Group Tax. In this role, you will help shape and maintain our VAT control framework and support the business in navigating complex VAT matters across the different countries where ING operates. The work is varied: you’ll advise on VAT aspects of products and business initiatives, help keep our internal policies up to date, and partner with colleagues across the organisation to find practical, compliant and forward‑looking VAT solutions. Additionally, you will contribute to challenging (tax) transformation programs like ViDA.

The team
At ING Group Tax, you’ll join a team of 25-30 tax and tax technology professionals. We work in  an open and collaborative setting where people are proactive, share knowledge and take pride in delivering solid work. The team culture is open, collaborative and hands‑on.

Roles and responsibilities

For this role we are looking for someone to fill the following responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality VAT advice to the business and (senior) management on ING’s products, services and new initiatives.

  • Help keeping the bank safe and compliant, i.e. develop, improve and maintain ING’s tax control framework, internal VAT policies and manuals, and support consistent application across the organization.

  • Assess VAT risks and contribute to the way we embed VAT controls and processes within the organisation.

  • Assist in global (tax) transformation programs.

  • Work with local tax teams, Finance departments and the business on cross-border tax matters.

  • Spot opportunities to simplify processes, improve data quality or strengthen the way VAT is handled within systems and reporting.

How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.
  • A completed Master’s degree in Tax Law or Fiscal Economics.

  • Around 5–10 years of VAT experience, ideally gained in  the financial services industry and/or a consultancy environment.

  • An excellent working knowledge of European VAT rules and relevant case-law.

  • Experience in dealing with complex VAT matters, compliance processes transformation programs.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain your insights clearly to non‑tax colleagues and other stakeholders.

  • Someone who enjoys working with others, takes initiative and ownership and can find their way in an international organisation that moves quickly.

  • Fluent in English and (preferably) Dutch, both spoken and written.
