The purpose of this internship is to assist in a dedicated project to investigate and downsize the current accounting structure of ING’s run-off Real Estate business. During your internship, you will be asked to come up with proposals to simplify the structure and execute your proposals to a successful conclusion. Concretely, this means investigate outstanding balance sheet positions, initiate cash payments and perform all mandatory accounting and control procedures. For this role, it is key that you cooperate with our ING Financial Services Hub in Manila, Philippines, as well as other functions such as Wholesale Banking Finance and Corporate Legal department, and external service providers.

ING is setting up a bank-wide COO organization that's ready for the future, with scalable, and resilient operations. You will become a member of the Financial Accounting Circle within COO Finance (COOF), a no-nonsense and progressive department, known for its qualitative deliveries. The Financial Accounting Circle is responsible for designing and executing global finance operations for all Product Accounting, Cost Accounting and Non-Product Accounting business lines.  and technology strategy to optimize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction within ING.

How to succeed

Since you will immediately operate as a member of the team, we expect:

  • Master or Bachelor (third year bachelor) student with high interest in Accounting and Controlling
  • Positive learning attitude and openness for feedback
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Structured, proactive (you take initiative) and teamwork
  • Strong organisational/project management skills
  • Perseverance
  • Fluency in writing and speaking English is required
