Within Tech Netherlands, there are the domains: Products, Omni Channel, Payments, Cash & Cards, Core banking & Advisory, Customer & Data.

CISO and Architecture are also key part of the MT Tech Netherlands. Each of these domains is headed by an IT Lead (300-400FTE). IT Area leads are hierarchically responsible to lead the chapter leads and engineers within the area.

The Role:

We are looking for an IT Area Lead, with talent and enthusiasm, to lead the way in our journey towards excellence for Pricing and Billing IT Area working with corresponding business domain in Daily Banking and Digital First Tribe. The IT Area Lead will be contributing to define and implement the IT strategy for his/her own IT Area in line with the bank's IT strategy (Horizon 28). He/she will be mainly managing and coordinating ING Tech functions will be responsible for enhancement, stability, maturity, security, risk, availability and operations of the platforms and applications. 

Next to People Management, Delivery, IT Custodianship, Financial Management and adherence to IT Processes, the IT Area Lead will take responsibility for the overarching development, architecture implementation and way of working in the Pricing and Billing area.

You will be part of the ING Tech NL/Products Management Team.

Your key responsibilities:

  • People Management: install a high performing culture by fostering growth and craftmanship of your team and building/safeguarding knowledge in your area.
  • IT Custodianship: of our strategic Pricing and Billing application suite. Manage IT Risk and Security on these assets and ensure reliable operation of the IT Assets by nurturing a ‘zero outage’ culture.
  • Predictable Delivery: software delivery in your area, live up to our promises with respect to quality and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Management: managing stakeholders both within the area (Pricing and Billing) and outside.
  • Technical Leadership:  focus on improvement of Tech landscape in your area in order to achieve both quality and efficiency as well as eliminating waste and continuous improvement as a service provider.
  • Financial Management: Proper budget control including Staff costs, IT Expenses and Infra costs.
  • Staffing: Define optimal staffing strategy for your area, in line with the Tech NL sourcing strategy. Hiring, growing and retaining great engineers.
  • Vendor Management: managing vendor is key to this area as the vendor application is critical for fee income for ING.
  • Governance and WoW: standardization and improvement of IT, Finance, Risk and Governance and/or Processes in your area.

Your work environment

You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment of Tech NL – Pricing and Billing area.

This IT Area is delivering global Pricing and Billing platform (EPOS) which is being used in multiple countries. EPOS is the core platform responsible for providing Catalogue, Rate and Fee details for our consumers, which is then is used by millions of our customers and businesses for various Pricing and Billing solutions in multiple countries. This is enabled by providing robust, scalable and adaptive global IT solutions.

The IT area has a good balanced set of engineers and is currently in the middle of improving & standardizing the end-to-end delivery process, whilst delivering for multiple interesting use-cases for the Products area and remaining a safe & compliant bank.

IT Area comprise around 40 engineers working across the Netherlands, ING's Tech Hubs and with our strategic partners in India. New IT Area Lead will be responsible for creating a balanced team of internals/externals with a good Dreyfus maturity distribution.

The Role (Desired skills & Experience):

  • Master of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent field is desired.
  • Experienced IT leader with 5+ years of experience in an IT management role.
  • Prior leadership experience or existing ITAL experience is a plus.
  • You have a strong hand at architecture with knowledge of DevSecOps.
  • Experience in managing (SoX) critical applications is a plus.
  • Pricing and Billing prior knowledge/experience is an asset

  • Develop Talent: experience in getting the best out of people and developing talent when working with multiple cultures at the same time.
  • Experience with strategic assignments and major changes.
  • Drive Results: You achieve optimum results by empowering teams and giving them responsibility, at the same time challenging poor results or outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
