ING is looking for an experienced IT Area Lead (ITAL) to strengthen its Digitalization and Workflow Management organization.

In this exciting role, you will work at a place where you will make a lasting impact by driving digitalization and innovation, streamlining processes, and elevating our Pega System implementation across ING Wholesale Banking. As the IT Area Lead, you’ll be the driving force behind our Pega initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, guiding development efforts, and ensuring seamless integration of Pega applications. Your leadership will shape the future of our digital landscape and WB strategy on Digitalization.

In this role, the IT Area Lead will be responsible for managing PEGA FlowForce for Wholesale Banking users across 40+ locations including several SaaS solutions for Wholesale Banking KYC.

This is a challenging area due to the high degree of complexity, delivering excellent PEGA capabilities and engineering squads to all WB Tribes. The engineering community is set up centrally with you while the business side is decentral, delivering POs/CJEs for the squads. The squads deliver a wide range of business deliverables from end-to-end ‘Digital Journeys’ which are directly exposed to our clients, operations workflows and regulatory journeys, including  KYC.

• You will be overseeing an area of around 110 people globally (Netherlands, Manila and India), with 8 Chapter Leads reporting directly to you – you will be managing the manager of engineers. This a growing area so the number of engineers is expected to grow further.
• Provide technical leadership, and growing craftsmanship on the part of IT Chapters in your area with an emphasis on:
  • Agile customer-centric software development
  • Analytics and metrics of customer and systems’ behavior
  • People-oriented management and growth of Chapter leads and engineers
  • IT automation & Continuous Improvement
• Engage and develop ING and external staff, steering on craftmanship to maintain a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
• Work with Product leads, other IT Area Leads, business users and external partners to ensure the feasibility of Product Roadmaps in line with the Bank’s strategy and KPIs.
• Ensure predictable delivery of our software by Squads in your area, adhering to our promises concerning quality, allocation of resources, timelines, and features.
• IT Custodianship of our applications with an effective practice to keep IT Risk within Risk Appetite.
• Manage budgets - software expenses, work packages, people and service costs.
• Ensure reliable operation of our IT assets where KPIs including availability and other Service Level Objectives are met.
• Define and execute the WB Tech strategy (Nexus program) for PEGA FlowForce.
• Collaborate closely with our ING Hubs across the globe and our SSI partners in India

Your Profile (Desired Skills & Experience)

• Master of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Experienced IT leader with 5+ years of experience in an IT management role.
• PEGA background is a plus
• You have a strong hand at architecture with knowledge of workflow orchestrations and digital journeys
• You are genuinely interested in and understand the Wholesale Banking business and how our customers use our products. You stay up-to-day on how the business and demands change and can think together with our business colleagues about how best to evolve our proposition.
• Vendor management both for software and consulting services is important
• Senior Stakeholder management skills are critical for success
• While not mandatory, knowledge of banking is a big nice-to-have
• You are passionate about growing and developing technical people
• You possess excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• You love technology and naturally stay up to date on relevant new developments
• You value a multi-cultured environment where English is the working language, and you easily get on with people from different cultural backgrounds.
• You enjoy to collaborate with architects and engineers to design and implement solutions.
