The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring IT Lead for Competitive Pricing in Wholesale Banking (WB) Tech/Financial Markets & Group Treasury (FM&GT). You will lead a diverse team of highly skilled Engineering Managers and Engineers, where we expect all the people within the Squads to have the confidence to take responsibility when it comes to realizing value for ING and its customers. You act as an ambassador for IT to all stakeholders within or outside of FM&GT through frequent interaction and alignment. You are part of the WB Tech/FM&GT Core Management Team, reporting directly to the IT Lead WB Tech/FM&GT.
 

FM&GT Tribe & Competitive Pricing Area

The FM&GT Tribe is responsible for all run and change related to IT systems (90+) used by Financial Markets & Group Treasury. The Tribe is divided into six Areas where Competitive Pricing is the biggest by size and is responsible for all IT systems and deliveries linked to Pricing and Risk systems. These systems are used by Front Office Trading for doing pre deal pricing and for managing intraday risk whereas Risk Management department uses these systems to manage end of the day risk (Credit and Market Risk). The biggest system in the Area is ING Pricing Architecture (IPA), an inhouse system being built for Front Office and Risk Management users for managing intraday and end of the day risk across all asset classes.

The team

As IT Lead you are responsible for 225 Engineers and their Engineering Managers, located in Belgium, India, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Singapore, working on 8 global applications and platforms serving ING users across the globe. You, covering the How? part, will work closely together with the business counterpart, who is in charge of the What? part of the Competitive Pricing IT delivery.

Role and responsibilities

• Oversee the entire IT function including reliability, cost effective change delivery, service quality, IT Risk in line with internal and external requirements.
• Develop and execute the digital strategy for FMs Pricing and Risk Management, in line with FM&GT and Wholesale Banking business strategy.
• Define and implement a comprehensive delivery roadmap to streamline Competitive Pricing application landscape, leveraging ING’s global platform and services.
• Cultivate strong working relationships with global FM&GT business stakeholders, WB Tech colleagues and members of the global and local Tech community.
• Drive innovation by leading the development of new ideas, solutions, and products through decisive actions
• Lead the adoption of ING’s Way of Working, enhancing the IT maturity in practices, processes and engineering.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Engage and develop ING staff, fostering craftmanship to maintain a highly skilled and motivated workforce.

Given the nature of the work and access to confidential and sensitive information, the role is deemed to be ‘sensitive’. An extra security clearance is required by the Corporate Special Investigations (CSI) team to be appointed to this role.

About you

• Master’s degree in computer science or comparable work experience
• Knowledge and experience of building and delivering software in Financial Markets environment
• Knowledge and experience of building a software product and having a product mindset
• Experienced IT leader with 6-10 years’ experience in IT management roles and total 15-20 years of experience
• Proven track record in managing key vendors and commercial off the shelf software
• Proven experience in complex stakeholder management including senior management and C-suite level
• Collaborative team player, with excellent communication skills to work seamlessly with ease with your business stakeholders
• Passion for and proven track record of working in an Agile BizDevOps environment
• Must have worked with a geographically complex organization at scale with ability to embrace diverse multicultural teams and a highly customer-focussed outlook
• Proven track record in finding, growing, and promoting talent
• An excellent understanding of how to organize internal software development and operations effectively
• Knowledge of network architecture, software architectures, cloud computing, and database management
• You stay on top of the trends as technology changes and have a strong technical vision for the future
• Understanding of Financial Markets business as well as familiarity with trading systems, market data feeds, and financial instruments is a strong plus
• Knowledge of financial and non-financial regulations relevant for IT systems to comply with legal requirements (MiFID, GDPR, Basel IV, etc.) is a strong plus
