Java Chapter Lead Proficient
We are looking for a IT Chapter Lead within Tribe Payments. The right candidate will build and improve the platforms for our critical IT assets for our Cash products to serve our customers better every day. Your chapter consists of 2 teams of engineers with expertise both in development as well as operations in Amsterdam (next to Ikea building, easy to reach by public transport) and in Manilla, Philippines.
The team
ING works in multi-disciplinary teams based on Scrum, Agile and DevOps principles. Responsibility for Infra and Security is adapted within the squads, business & IT have joined, making a squad end-to-end responsible for a customer journey or product. Roles and responsibilities
- Together with the Product Lead, you lead on team development, delivery and timelines
- Ensure quality and ownership for work delivered via sprints, set and improve standards according to the agile way of working
- Together with your Engineers: end-responsible for keeping your IT environment up and running, healthy, secure, documented, and standardized where possible
- Continuously work on skills improvements, expertise and personal growth of your IT engineers
- Line management tasks such as hiring new employees, assess performance of current employees
- Member of Tribe Management team, directing and delivering tribe wide initiatives.

Leadership, delivery and soft skills:
- Hands-on and pro-active positive attitude
- Strong social and communication skills. Being a sparring partner for our business colleagues
- Experience in formal/informal leadership, speaking up in front of groups and leadership
- We expect the ability to transfer knowledge back to the ING Bank by holding presentations, workshops, documentation and most important: setting new standards for the ways we do tech.
- Fluent in English
Engineering:
- A master’s degree in Software Engineering
- Proven track record and proficiency in software development (8 + years): backend or front end
- We are moving towards pure DevOps profiles, so you are expected to refine, code, test and deploy your own work on our on-premise and cloud environments.
- Great reasoning skills and conceptual / architectural understanding, ability to quickly understand new technical concepts that are outside of your comfort zone.
- Strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general.
- IT Risk awareness, understanding of security concepts in software development
