As the Market Risk Management team of ING NL we are an energetic team of highly qualified professionals, responsible for managing the balance sheet of ING NL. We do this by hedging our interest rate and liquidity risks in close cooperation with the ING Group Treasury department. We maintain close relations with our business stakeholders, advise them on product and pricing changes and make them aware of all relevant (macro-economic) trends and consequences such as the developments of the interest rates in the market.

The team

Our Market Risk Management team consists of about 30 experts, determined to advise our business stakeholders to deliver on our purpose to achieve sustainable progress for all. Client behaviour is crucial to us and we use lots of data to explore, model and forecast it with state-of-the-art modelling methods and technologies. The position offers excellent opportunities to broaden your market risk / asset & liability management and data analytics competencies while further developing your soft skills by advising and collaborating with our stakeholders. Our team is involved in strategic programs such as the transfer of the mortgages administration to STATER. Hence, we search colleagues for our team who are also keen to contribute to this program and make an impact.

Roles and responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to work together with various business and IT stakeholders on strategic programs such as the transfer of the mortgages administration to STATER. You will play a pivotal role where you will be required to quickly understand the product characteristics relevant for ALM, complex data landscape, data models and ETL processes. You are familiar with defining business requirements and with testing and implementing ALM data using Microsoft SQL, Python and Excel. The ALM data is mainly used for Net Interest Income (NII) forecasting, valuation and replication (i.e. hedging).

You will be working on both the business and IT side of the processes and must be able to translate functional requirements into technical solutions. Among others, you will:

  • Work with cross-domain multidisciplinary team of professionals on the end-to-end migration of our mortgages administration to STATER focusing on Market Risk Management.

  • Together with IT and Risk managers you are responsible for setting the data requirements for QRM onboarding including implementation into the ETL and testing.

  • Formulate functional data quality rules and be able to identify and analyze unexpected differences in data in an early stage.

  • Work closely together with data suppliers to improve, prioritize and ensure robust and future-proof data deliveries.

  • Understand how monthly financial data and financial products are processed.

  • Be a sparring partner by giving advice about the data to be processed to stakeholders and developers with your functional product and market risk knowledge.

  • An academic degree in the Finance/Risk field or a quantitative study, such as Econometrics is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Dutch mortgages is preferred.

  • Experience with ALM business requirements, ETL data processes and tools (SQL).

  • Project (management) experience is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the financial sector (e.g. banking, insurance, consulting).

  • Experience in Agile (Scrum) way of working is preferred.

  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
