ING is looking for Market Data Analyst to join the Market Data Analytics Team (MDAT) supporting a team focused on the management of market data sourcing, transformations, models and proxies, as well as the development of dashboard and data analytics tools, forming a market data center of excellence within FIFM Risk. We are looking for a candidate who has proven experience in analyzing and visualizing large sets of data combined with a background in Finance and Risk.

The opportunity

As a market data analyst you will support the team responsible for the deriving, proxying, monitoring, analyzing and reporting on market data used for price and risk calculations, including regulatory and economic capital, and performance of the trading activities.  You will support the team by:

  • Daily BAU work which includes market data validation & reporting, defined by the Market Data Replacement & Proxy Policy

  • Developing and maintaining derived market data and proxy models for one or two asset classes

  • Conducting analysis on large data sets, processes and technology systems

  • Daily market data validation & reporting, defined by the Market Data Replacement & Proxy Policy

  • Collaborating with the global team across the full market data lifecycle including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and release management 

  • Working closely with the FIFM Risk teams to understand and deliver on their market data requirements

  • Coordinating and implementing market data used in market risk-related internal initiatives as well as upcoming regulatory changes, such as the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book and the IBOR transition.

  • Coordinating agile projects with IT developers and system support teams to develop and maintain high market data quality standards on behalf of FIFM Risk

You will work closely with many internal and external parties such as risk managers globally, front office, finance, IT, junior management and regulatory supervisors.

A successful candidate should have strong analytical skills and the ability to create, challenge and improve market data monitoring techniques and quality. The candidate should have good communication skills, critical thinking and a pro-active attitude.
Also you are able to deal with cultural differences, conflicting interests and unforeseen challenges. You constructively cooperate with other risk teams worldwide and other departments in ING.

Your profile

  • A university degree in finance, econometrics or other quantitative subjects

  • Experienced profession or business analyst in risk management within large, internationally active financial institutions (3+ years experience) possessing:

  • Strong communication skills: Position involves regular interaction with colleagues in varying degrees of seniority and understanding of the new rules. Candidate should be able to adapt communications to target audiences ranging from senior executives to junior colleagues involved/impacted by the new rules

  • Experience with and keen interest in financial markets relevant policies, guidelines and regulations

  • Advanced level understanding of quantification of market risk metrics (VaR, HVaR, IRC, etc.) and market risk capital requirements

  • Experience in dealing with large data sets and associated technology with an understanding of SQL, Python, MSBI as a plus

  • Self-starter, result-driven and flexible, i.e. able to adjust quickly to new circumstances

  • Team player with a mindset of empowering others

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and critical thinking

  • Fluent in English
