Join our international team in Rotterdam, where we manage and evolve the IaaS technology of ING cloud platforms. As a DevOps Engineer specializing in Datacenter Networks, you’ll play a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for millions of customers.

The team

You’ll work in a cross border agile squad, collaborating closely with the Product Manager and fellow engineers to deliver high-impact solutions. Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews are part of your routine, supported by modern tools and a strong DevOps culture.

Roles and responsibilities

As a skilled network professional, you and your squad are responsible for managing and evolving the Datacenter Network. You will drive innovation across operational processes, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient network infrastructure.

  • Strong focus on network operations and brings solid troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.

  • Design, implement and maintain secure and high-performing network infrastructure.

  • Develop and automate infrastructure using scripting and orchestration tools.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management processes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a shared team backlog.

  • Continuously improve infrastructure, documentation and processes.

Technical Skills - Networking & Security

  • Expertise Routing & Switching (certification preferred e.g. CCNA/CCNP).

  • Experience with routing and switching protocols in high-availability setups.

  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and Datacenter environments.

  • Understanding of security and risk principles in infrastructure design.

  • Hands-on experience with firewalls and Open Networking platforms is a plus.

Cloud & Automation

  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, Azure Automation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, or AWS CloudFormation.

  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.


DevOps & Agile

  • Working knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

  • Familiarity with Scrum methodology (e.g., backlog, sprint planning, reviews).

Your education and background

  • Professional and intellectual IT ability at least a bachelor’s degree

  • Certifications or proven proficiency in Networking and Security

  • Certifications or proven proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English

Stand-by shifts

Business critical systems, such as client processes, payment processes, software applications and websites, require a 24/7 accessibility and availability of several (groups) of employees to act quickly during unforeseen circumstances, such as calamities or incidents. For these (groups) of employees ING have set up a Stand-by regulation. To compensate for the inconvenience of being available at this time, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
If you are designated by your lead for stand-by shifts to be available for incidents outside of your regular working hours, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
