ING Group’s Supervisory, Public and Regulatory Affairs (SuPRA) team is looking for a Public and Regulatory Affairs specialist to join the team. The team’s role is to both represent ING externally towards key public sector stakeholders, and to advise the ING leadership and business on supervisory, regulatory, and other public policy developments.

This position offers the possibility to navigate one of Europe largest banks through politically turbulent times. It is an excellent opportunity to get a broad picture of the regulatory and supervisory issues that ING is dealing with.

The team

The team currently consists of 16 people. Team members are based at ING’s Amsterdam headquarters, and may work from ING’s Brussels office due to its proximity to the EU institutions. The team works together closely with colleagues in key national markets for ING, including countries like the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the UK, and Poland.

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Public and Regulatory Affairs specialist that is looking to lead on some of ING’s key policy areas at EU level. Responsibilities would include:

  • Develop ING messaging on specific areas of legislation and regulation, which both eye for the big picture and the details of the laws.
  • Execute advocacy plans by directly engaging with policy makers. This can be at international, EU or national level, depending on the issue.
  • Represent ING in trade associations at international, European and national level.
  • Advise ING leadership and senior business executives on policy developments and advocacy strategy.

How to succeed

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role. This can be the financial industry, public administration, consulting and law firms, trade associations, or a combination of these. Role and responsibilities will be in line with your experience and profile.
  • Good understanding of the banking sector is a plus, but willingness to learn is more important.
  • Good understanding of political and policy processes.
  • Excellent communication and writing (including power point) skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Eagerness to take initiative and a can-do attitude.
  • Fluency in English.
