Python Engineer – ING (Search & AI Technologies)

ING Hubs Poland is hiring!

We are looking for you, if you: 

• are a highly skilled Python Engineer with a passion for search technologies, AI-driven solutions, and scalable applications, 

• hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, 

• have 5+ years of experience as a Python Engineer,

• possess strong hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats),

• are familiar with RAG-based solutions, vector search, and GenAI integration,

• have solid knowledge of search ranking, relevance tuning, and query optimization,

• are experienced with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps),

• are proficient in RESTful API development, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes),

• demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data, 

• have strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.

You'll get extra points for: 

• applying secure coding practices in cloud-native environments, especially on Azure,

• holding Azure certifications validating expertise in cloud architecture, security, and DevOps,

• experience in Agile/Scrum, actively contributing to team ceremonies and collaboration. 

Your responsibilities: 

• develop and optimize Python-based applications for ING’s internal search engine, 

• implement and fine-tune search solutions using Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar search engines, 

• integrate and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models for intelligent search,

• collaborate with AI/ML experts to integrate GenAI solutions into the search experience, 

• improve ranking algorithms and relevance tuning for search results,

• develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to support search capabilities,

• ensure performance, scalability, and security of search and AI-driven applications,

• work with cloud-based platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) to deploy and scale search solutions,

• stay up to date with emerging AI and search trends to bring innovation to the team.

At ING, the Corporate Technology department is on a mission to provide employees with seamless access to knowledge and information. The OneSearch squad, based in Amsterdam, plays a key role in this mission by developing and optimizing ING’s internal search engine. We are looking for an experienced Python Engineer with Elastic Stack expertise to help take OneSearch to the next level. 

The OneSearch squad is part of the People and Hubs domain within Corporate Technology. Our goal is to provide ING employees with efficient and intelligent search capabilities, leveraging cutting-edge search and AI technologies.  As part of a multidisciplinary Agile team, you will collaborate with UX Designers, Customer Journey Experts, and IT engineers to build and enhance ING’s search experience.
