The Financial Institutions (FI) sector coverage team offers an exciting position in Amsterdam for an ambitious professional who enjoys working in an international environment.

The Financial Institutions team is one of the global specialist sector teams at the heart of ING Wholesale Banking. The team provides banking services to banks, insurers, pension funds, asset managers and other financial institutions globally.

As a Parent Account Manager, you will play a key role in managing our client relationships. Your focus area will be banks and other financial institutions in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. These clients require a wide range of Wholesale Banking products which you will deliver in close cooperation with the various product teams. Main products provided include a.o. Debt Capital Markets, Financial Markets, Transaction Services and Lending.

The global FI sector team consists of dedicated professionals located in the world’s major financial centers. The team in Amsterdam covers financial institutions in the Netherlands, the Nordics, Israel and Northern-Africa.

Roles and responsibilities
You will be responsible for client relationship management for all clients allocated to you. You will maintain an active dialogue and play a leading role in transactions which have a large impact on our clients. You work closely together with various product specialists across ING. In all your activities you will strive to meet client needs in the best way, using all of ING’s products, knowledge, and international network.

As a Parent Account Manager in the Financial Institutions sector team your activities are very diverse, and your main tasks consist of:

  • Building client relations and maintaining a continuous dialogue with our clients in the Nordics

  • Driving the strategic dialogue with clients, and discuss beyond-banking initiatives

  • Pro-actively generating opportunities and transactions that serve our client’s needs. Taking the lead in responding to RfP’s

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Nordics

  • Maintaining active contacts with other departments within ING such as Financial Markets, Transaction Services, Lending, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Corporate Finance and Risk Management

  • Contributing to the team targets, including revenues, and maximize the quality of those earnings

  • Safeguarding timely delivery of flow business & deal opportunities, and high-quality and seamless customer due diligence & transaction execution

  • Preparing and managing commercial and credit approval processes together with the FI Lending team

  • Driving and monitoring KYC activities for your clients and keeping customer data information systems up to date

  • Guiding, training and supervising junior members of the team

How to succeed

  • You are an experienced Director in the banking sector

  • Relationship-driven, people-oriented, team player and strong communicator

  • An ambitious professional with a Masters’ degree and excellent academic results

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

  • International experience and cultural sensitivity. Experience and network in the Nordics would be a valuable asset and is highly desirable

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and commercial acumen

  • A pro-active professional with a strong personal drive and a high level of self-motivation

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Wholesale Banking product suite

  • Strong project and time management skills. Ability to manage a large variety of tasks simultaneously whilst performing under tight deadlines

  • Preferred location Amsterdam
