Organizational Context

ING is looking for a senior DevOps Engineer within the Financial Markets & Group Treasury (FM&GT) domain. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and advice. FM&GT aims to be a leading market player in our home markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role you will be working within the back-office Platform team which helps to achieve the goal of the FM&GT tribe by developing a scalable, stable, and resilient platform to support the Calypso and BOTS back-office applications.

As DevOps engineer you have a positive attitude, are solution focused and have an ability to derive creative, smart, and practical solutions to complex problems. With your experience will be able to independently work on items on the backlog and are proactive in identifying software and process improvements.

Your primary responsibilities are broadly classified below. However, you are also expected to learn and demonstrate new skills.

• Support the product owner and team by planning and coordinating the delivery of the larger initiatives.
• Build pipelines, processes, tooling to automate, enhance and simplify the development, testing, release/deployment, and monitoring/maintenance of our back-office applications;
• Help support our environments to ensure all environments are adequately setup, managed and fit for purpose by other teams;
• Build and enhance our monitoring and logging tooling;
• Build and enhance our automation testing framework which encompasses unit, functional, regression and performance tests;
• Help automate patching of all aspects within our technical domain, including Linux, Oracle DB, Citrix and other software patching using a continuous delivery pipeline to do software releases;
• Keep the platform secure by performing risk related activities on security aspects such as Security Monitoring, Identity and Access Management, Change Management, Platform Security and more;
• Contribute to Incident, Problem and Change Management, including help in structural solution for reoccurring problems and keeping first-rate levels of service management.
• Attend daily, weekly and bi-weekly meetings with the squad;
• Contribute to improvements and be proactively engaged in the teams Scrum ceremonies.

Desired skills and experience

• Bachelor or Master level degree knowledge and capability
• Strong analytical skills, proactive/Ownership mindset/attitude and always sharing knowledge;
• Experience as technical lead with overall responsibility for planning and delivery;
• Excellent technical skills including Linux, Oracle, scripting and housekeeping;
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Continuous Delivery tools such as Git and Ansible & Azure DevOps;
• Experience with Python and or Powershell scripts;
• Knowledge of IT networks, monitoring tools, Citrix and troubleshooting issues;
• Good knowledge and experience with Databases: SQL, troubleshooting, Oracle Administration;
• Experience with automated testing, continuous testing flows including unit-, integration-, regression- and performance tests;
• Excellent written, verbal, and formal communication skills (Fluent in English);
• Can do attitude and ability to take on an own the task through to completion
• Experienced in Agile / Scrum / DevOps;
• Experience in Kubernetes, Docker and/or ELK stack is a plus;
• Prior experience of working with 3rd party infra or software providers is a plus;
• Interest in technology developments, machine learning, automation, cloud infra is a plus.
