Senior JAVA Backend Engineer
We are looking for hard core Java developer with a fundamental understanding and experience with Java who will help build and maintain the services that drive our digital channels.
Location: Leeuwarden. If you don't live in that area then travelling to the office once every month is sufficient.

Our stack
Our back-end APIs are created with an internal Spring (Boot) based framework and run on virtualised hardware. To comply with our regulators demands, IT Risk and security by design part of your DNA. This means that you need to be a quick learner to understand them, and you need to have the ambition to improve and automate as much as possible.
Role and responsibilities
- You will collaborate with your business colleagues and software architects outside the team.
- Together you define how to build new functionalities.
- Most of your time will be spent on implementing, testing, and bringing this to production.

- 8-10 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Back-End development.
- Deep understanding of Java 11 or above
- Experience creating highly scalable, secure, and high-performance REST APIs
- Experience writing Junit test cases and perform test automation
- Experience working with Spring/Spring Boot framework
- Experience working with Kafka
- Experience with containers (Docker, docker-compose, Kubernetes)
- Experience with XML and JSON processing and validation
- Understanding SQL/NoSQL data modelling
- Familiar with performance testing concepts and tools
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines
- You have a learning attitude. Not only to master new technologies and programming languages, but also on a personal level. You can give and receive feedback
- Embrace a DevOps mindset, taking ownership of refining, coding, testing, and deploying your own work
- You help others to be successful
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum or Kanban
