Primarily involved in supporting the Corporate Finance team in originating, structuring and executing M&A transactions.

Key responsibilities

  • Working within the CF team in Amsterdam with a focus on, primarily, Benelux-linked M&A transactions

  • Leading the execution of transactions, thereby supervising junior team members, managing (prospective) client relationship, interacting with other parties in the process and coordinating with external advisers (e.g. M&A bankers, lawyers, accountants, consultants, financing bankers)

  • Developing and increasingly taking responsibility for the strategic dialogue with selected clients and/or specific sectors with the aim to originate new opportunities

  • Monitoring market developments, building a network and driving the further development of the team

  • Maintaining close ties with the departmental families within ING, including Equity Capital Markets, Structured Acquisition Finance, Capital Structure & Advisory, Corporate Clients and Corporate Investments

Role criteria / competencies

Directors have 10 to 14 years of working experience within an investment banking or equivalent environment. Suitable candidates have demonstrable hands-on experience in leading M&A transactions and directing a (junior) team, have a high energy level, strong relationship management skills and commercial drive, attention to detail, ability to work time-efficiently within a team setting and are able to represent the team well, both internally and externally.

ING CF adopts a sector-based approach, putting together client teams across borders to reflect local relationships and product specialists and to ensure the highest standards of transaction execution.

The Amsterdam office of ING CF is responsible for the origination and execution of transactions in a Benelux domestic and cross-border context and is the main hub of ING WB’s Global Corporate Finance team. The team consistently has leading positions in the Benelux league tables, both on a value and a volume basis. Typical advisory transactions include mergers, acquisitions, disposals, public offers and equity issues.(Scale 13)
