Tribe Lead - Professional Services Category
The opportunity
The Tribe Lead Professional Services Category leads a global team to develop, implement, and execute an organization-wide procurement professional services category strategy covering global and local professional service procurement spend that optimizes employee capabilities, achieves the organization's strategic objectives, liaises with key stakeholders, and coordinates global and local procurements projects all to deliver competitive advantage through cost base reductions.
Category Management is a critical procurement discipline to ensure ING achieves best value for money when it comes to procuring its goods and services. It is a well-established, comprehensive, and marketing leading procurement approach that considers ING’s organizational goals, professional service strategy, objectives, and requirements, as well as market conditions and innovations, to ensure the most cost-effective, innovative and efficient procurement of goods and services.
The challenge is not only building the capabilities, but also embedding their usage and application across the global organization.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Planning and documenting the professional service category strategy all in-scope global services, consolidating the plans and objectives at a regional level into a single category plan aligned clearly to company-wide priorities
The execution of agreed initiatives to improve cost, reduce risk, drive ESG and enhance colleagues’ experience across the Group and to ensure effective implementation of the Banks and Procurement's goals.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional services procurement professional with significant experience in a financial regulatory environment, able to build the necessary credibility with key stakeholders, and with a successful track record in a senior procurement leadership role, developing a global category strategy, planning and gaining buy-in across a complex organisation and multiple stakeholders.

Procurement within ING is headed by the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO). The CPO is responsible for the procurement and real estate function and countries functionally report into the CPO.
The objective is to maximize the business benefits ING gets from its suppliers and ensure the integrity of the supply chain, while operating efficiently and with sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
The Tribe Lead Professional Services reports hierarchically and functionally into the Group Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) and is a member of the Global Procurement MT
Roles and responsibilities
Development and presentation of the global category strategy aligned with key stakeholders, business and professional services strategy.
Profiling of global professional service spend and contracts.
Collation of global and local business requirements for in scope goods and services.
Undertaking regular market research harnessing leading benchmarks and research insights to identify and deliver best-in-class solutions for ING.
Leading the reduction in purchase cost of in scope services through:
Negotiating highly competitive global rates and implementing pan-bank commercial models that leverage ING's full global spend
Management of demand through proactive forecasting, standardization and harmonization of specifications and requirements
Increased efficiency through standardization, simplification, and digitization of associated sourcing and supplier management processes.
Establishing a clear set of policies and procedures on sourcing of in scope services for end-users and cross-functional teams to drive consistency and facilitate benefits tracking.
Working with business stakeholders to manage key strategic supplier relationships within the category to further develop service performance, address key category-level risks and issues, drive ongoing 'in-contract' cost reductions and identify leading innovation through effective supplier partnering.
Establishing and lead relevant governance forums to bring together key stakeholders across ING and ensure alignment on an agreed category strategy, plan and ensure regular reporting and updates on progress and performance to executive sponsors.
Building a strong and effective team that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve collective success whilst creating a culture of strong teamwork and individual development across Global and Local Procurement teams.

A seasoned procurement expert you are able to build the necessary credibility with the key stakeholders, translating into:
Minimum 15 years of relevant procurement experience
Successful track record of full professional services end to end category management delivery and senior management / executive stakeholder engagement
Track record of developing a global professional services category strategy, implementation plan and gaining sign off across a complex global organisation and multiple stakeholders
Deep knowledge of the financial regulatory environment and the risks and opportunities provided by professional services
Deep knowledge of market trends and innovations and translation of these into procurement opportunities
Deep knowledge of best practices in peer group companies and leading procurement practices in professional service category management to identify and bring about changes necessary to compete effectively
Ability to influence, direct and regulate the activity of key professional services stakeholders
Deep knowledge of sustainability practices and the actions needed to reduce the impact of the professional services supply chain on the environment.
Commercial drive and a high level of self-motivation, combined with well-developed risk awareness
A leader able to motivate and coordinate multiple direct and indirect teams, engage and gain buy in from senior stakeholders and create a united vision and direction
A proven track record within Procurement of being able to connect people, and be a role-model and foster inclusion
Ability to navigate ambiguity well and is culturally adaptable and sensitive.
