Tech Lead – Global IT Continuity Product

We are looking for you, if you:

• have 5+ years of experience in software development, ideally with Python and .Net, and are ready to step into a leadership role that goes beyond coding,
• possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and align multiple engineering teams toward a common product vision,
• demonstrate leadership maturity, with experience in mentoring engineers, resolving conflicts, and fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration,
• are confident in representing your teams and product in front of key stakeholders, including senior management, product owners, and global partners,
• have experience in leading cross-functional teams, ideally across multiple products, and can merge them into a synergic, scalable global solution,
• are able to translate technical complexity into business value, and vice versa,
• are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and comfortable working in an international environment,
• are willing to support the Product Lead in managing the backlog, shaping epics and user stories, and ensuring the team maintains momentum and clarity of direction.
   

You'll get extra points for:

• experience in leading product transformations or platform unification initiatives,
• familiarity with Software Architecture models (e.g., C4) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred),
• knowledge of Disaster Recovery, IT Continuity, or Resilience Engineering,
• exposure to container technologies, Linux, and cloud-native development,
• ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic leadership responsibilities.
   

Your responsibilities:

• lead and integrate two engineering teams working on separate products into a cohesive global solution,
• set the technical direction, ensure architectural consistency, and drive engineering excellence across the teams,
• act as the technical representative in strategic discussions with stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable engineering goals,
• foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement,
• support the Product Lead in backlog management, helping to define and refine epics, user stories, and priorities to ensure clear direction and delivery focus,
• oversee feature design, development, and delivery, ensuring alignment with product vision and stakeholder expectations,
• support the teams in daily operations, Scrum events, and application monitoring, while continuously improving development practices.
  
   

Information about the squad:

Our team is focused on building a global application suite for IT Continuity, with a strong emphasis on Disaster Recovery automation. We are evolving from a local solution into a strategic global product within ING Group. The product is Python-based, hosted on ING Private Cloud, and developed using Agile/Scrum methodology.
 

We are looking for a Tech Lead who combines technical expertise with leadership acumen—someone who can unify teams, shape the product vision, and represent our work across the organization. The role is based in Katowice, Poland, with a hybrid work model preferred.

The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer IV”.
